Apples contain nutrients that are very important for healthy development and growth. These nutrients include antioxidants, non-saturated fats and phytonutrients. It is important to note that apples contain absolutely no cholesterol, making them a very healthy choice indeed.

Apples ensure that the body gets the required levels of necessary vitamins and minerals. Consumed on a daily basis, they will assist greatly to keep the body in a healthy condition on both the short and the long term. The list of nutrients found in apples is long and the benefits are several, including protection of the body from cancer-causing elements, improved metabolism, among others.

The question of the number of metric units in an apple can be answered in a variety of ways, but all the answers will be dependent on the size and type of apples consumed. However, in spite of all this, it is worth to note that, no matter the size or type consumed, the units will be very few indeed. To illustrate, it is important to consider this: Average-sized apples will contain between 70 and 90 units, thus giving about 80 calories, which is very low indeed, compared to most other types of foods.

Apples also contain Potassium, which is useful in controlling the heart rate and blood pressure. This is possible since Potassium is part of body fluids as well as cells. Apples are also a good source of Phosphorus and Calcium.

Instead of throwing away the skin, an alternative is to ensure that it is thoroughly washed before consumption. This will ensure that the benefits of consuming these amazing fruits are not overwritten by the harmful toxins that could be ingested through contaminated skin. The choice to consume the skin or not, though, has minimal effect on the amount of how many calories in an apple.
